Never Too Old to Play Tennis and Never Too Old to Start
Published in Paperback by Betterway Pubns (April, 1993)
Author: Mansfield Latimer
Average review score:

Advice on competitive tennis play written by a senior player
Well worth reading. A book written by a player is like having a big brother who's been there and done that. It's different advice than Braden or other professional coaches offer. It's observations about what works and what doesn't work in winning day in and day out. The senior aspect is great. Inspirational photos of seniors enjoying the game. The entire premise of the book is to gain understanding of the mental aspects of the game and win at any age. He's given a lot of thought to percentage tennis and analytical skills during a match. A much better book than the title implies if you're open to improvement.

The Night Mists of Mansfield
Published in Hardcover by Xlibris Corporation (July, 1999)
Author: Raymond E. Ward
Average review score:

The Night Mists of Mansfield
I found 'the Night Mists of Mansfield" extremely well written and constructed in such a way as to flow on so continually that I could not put it down. The factual details of products and brands available around that era in Australia are absolutley correct. The characters are described so vividly that they jump into your mind with clear visuals. It is certainly a spicy novel but written in good taste. Mr Ward is poetic and sensitive and has great understanding of human nature. All in all this is a thought provoking, entertaining and at the same time very engrosing novel. Definitely a 'must read' for everyone!

Passionate pilgrimage : a love affair in letters : Katherine Mansfield's letters to John Middleton Murry from the South of France, 1915-1920
Published in Unknown Binding by Joseph ()

Exceptional reading
By accident I picked up "Letters to John Middleton Murray from Katherine Mansfield." It's a book to cherish. I absolutely adore the letters. Today, while sitting on my balcony, birds singing, it was as though I've gone back in time to the early 1900s to an uncomplicated time. These letters are like mini short stories--each one is different and there's tidbits of information of how life was nearly 100 years ago. Highly recommend this book. Here's a quote from a letter dated January, 1917: "I have just come in and smoked a cigarette, staring out through these dirty windows on to the dirtier windows across the way."

Pay Yourself First : A Commonsense Guide to Life-Cycle Retirement Investing
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (September, 1996)
Authors: Timothy W. Cunningham and Clay B. Mansfield
Average review score:

One of the most insight books on investing for the future.
This is a must read for people in their 20s and 30s, especially those who are married and have children. Most people think Social Security and the company 401K will take care of their retirement. A great many of those people believe if they start saving in their mid-30s they will accumulate enough wealth to retire comfortably. This book reinforces the need to begin saving for retirement as soon as you begin working full-time because of the power of compounding and all of the various circumstances like Bar Mitzah's, weddings and other financially draining events. It made me examine my own portfolio and strategy for future financial events. It is a very easy to read and understand book and can be read in a day

Photographing Aeroplanes: The Craft of Aviation Photography
Published in Paperback by Airlife Publishing Ltd (31 July, 1991)
Author: Steven Mansfield
Average review score:

Very Helpful
It took me a long time to find this book as I figured non would exist! As an aviation photographer, I was surprised to see there indeed was a book on the art of aviation photography, and I made sure I got it right away! The book is much larger than you think, and is full of many helpful topics. They go through every aspect of the film camera (which is easily adaptable to digital, this book was written pre-digital cameras) and how it relates to aviation photography. They also go through different types of Airshow/Military/Aerial photography as well as interviewing famous photographers. They have serveral charts which show you what happens when you set different settings on the camera (ie, the blur on props at different shutter speeds). Worth the buy if you can find it, it's already helped when I'm on the field!

Practical Data Structures Using C/C++
Published in Hardcover by Pearson Education POD (01 January, 1999)
Authors: James L. Antonakos and Kenneth C. Mansfield
Average review score:

A Great Intro to Basic Data Structures!
I had some C programming knowledge but I needed to enhance my skill set to include the use of data structures. This book did the job. It shows how to construct basic data structures and use some basic sorting and searching algorithms on those data strtuctures. I highly recommend this book to people who have some C programming skills but who don't have a degree in Computer Science. So if you are novice C programmer and want to write more sophisticated programs(mulitple files, use of data structures, pointers, and such) get this book. Unlike univeristy-level algorithms and data structures books, this book leaves out the math and I thank the authors for that! By the way, the C++ portion of the book is so insignificant it should not have been listed in the title. This is a 'C' language text.

Studio Basics: What You Should Know Before Entering the Recording Studio
Published in Paperback by Watson-Guptill Pubns (March, 1998)
Author: Richard Mansfield
Average review score:

Very important, original HISTORICAL research!!!!
The author clearly is a very original historian presenting some of the results of his work here: for instance, he offers (unobtrusively, by way of example) a completely new, fresh interpretation of supposedly known events, like his report that "General Militates beat the Greeks in the battle of Marathon...". This fresh prospective will trigger a long-overdue re-evaluation of our preconceived notions of history and will, doubtless, be a positive contribution to the improvement in diplomatic relations with Iran.

The book is also useful in other ways, btw.
